Collective Dynamics of Swarms with a New Attraction/Repulsion Function

چکیده
We specify an “individual-based” continuous-timemodel for swarm aggregation in n-dimensional Euclidean space. We show that the swarm is completely stable, and the center of the swarm is stationary. Numerical simulations indicate that the individuals will form a stable and cohesive swarm, and under the attraction/repulsion function, the bound of the swarm size will increase as the number of individuals increases.

Swarm Dynamics Behavior Analysis and Coordinated Control of Limited-Range Perceived Agents
Swarming behavior is ubiquitous in nature and society. It is of both theoretical and practical importance to investigate the underlying principles and mechanisms of coordination and cooperation emerging in swarms. In this paper we propose a simple isotropic range limited-perceive agents dynamic model to study collective and formation behavior of a group of mobile autonomous agents interacting t...
متن کاملCollective dynamics of soft active particles.
We present a model of soft active particles that leads to a rich array of collective behavior found also in dense biological swarms of bacteria and other unicellular organisms. Our model uses only local interactions, such as Vicsek-type nearest-neighbor alignment, short-range repulsion, and a local boundary term. Changing the relative strength of these interactions leads to migrating swarms, ro...
متن کاملSearching for effective forces in laboratory insect swarms
Collective animal behaviour is often modeled by systems of agents that interact via effective social forces, including short-range repulsion and long-range attraction. We search for evidence of such effective forces by studying laboratory swarms of the flying midge Chironomus riparius. Using multi-camera stereoimaging and particle-tracking techniques, we record three-dimensional trajectories fo...
متن کاملAggregation of Foraging Swarms
In this paper we consider a continuous-time anisotropic swarm model with an attraction/repulsion function and study its aggregation properties. It is shown that the swarm members will aggregate and eventually form a cohesive cluster of finite size around the swarm center. We also study the swarm cohesiveness when the motion of each agent is a combination of the inter-individual interactions and...
متن کاملSwarming and pattern formation due to selective attraction and repulsion.
We discuss the collective dynamics of self-propelled particles with selective attraction and repulsion interactions. Each particle, or individual, may respond differently to its neighbours depending on the sign of their relative velocity. Thus, it is able to distinguish approaching (coming closer) and retreating (moving away) individuals. This differentiation of the social response is motivated...
